About the Job
Northern Gear & Machining is seeking a Material Handler / Saw Operator to collaborate with a team dedicated to the success of our customers. The scope of this first shift position is to move various materials within the warehouse. I also set up and operated power saws to slot, cut, and trim metallic materials. Must speak English.

Summary:
Meets deadlines and production expectations with little to no supervision, unloads and loads products to/from trucks, records inventory statuses, and makes sure deliveries properly match paperwork. This requires the operation of a forklift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work and support all material handling responsibilities for the entire plant.
  • Use a powered industrial lift truck to move materials throughout the plant.
  • Verifying the accuracy of quantity and quality of inbound raw materials and supplies.
  • Label every product and place them accordingly.
  • Keep all material handling equipment in the best condition by conducting regular maintenance.
  • Follow quality and housekeeping expectations.
  • Empty chip hoppers.
  • Move materials and items from receiving or production areas.
  • Drive floor scrubber.
  • Assist in maintenance.

Requirements:
  • Previous material handling & forklift experience preferred.
  • Able to stand and walk during work shifts.
  • Able to use hands for simple/firm grasping and able to perform continuous repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequently bend and stoop and reach below waist and above shoulder level.
  • Frequently lift and carry products.
  • Work hours and overtime as required. Overtime may include Saturday hours.
  • Occasional kneeling/pushing/pulling.
  • Detail orientated.

Skills and Experiences:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Material Handling experience preferred.
  • Computer proficient.
  • Ability to Multi-task in a fast-paced environment to ensure quality and delivery requirements are met.
  • Understand the urgency to meet customer demands.
